John Anderson

Musicians

John Anderson is from Tahlequah, OK, and studied classical trumpet and completed a Bachelor of Musical Arts degree at the Univ. of Ok. In several schools in OK that had never had music programs before he started and directed beginning band programs. “These rural schools were full of kids starving for music that would’ve never gotten a chance to learn an instrument”. After a brief stint in medical school, he continued his musical ed at the Univ. of Central Ok receiving a Master’s degree in music ed with an emphasis on conducting. There he oversaw and directed several university ensembles and played the solo chair in their one o’clock jazz band. John has toured with The Guy Lombardo Orch, The Russ Morgan Orch, and Holland-Am Cruise Lines and has performed with The Glenn Miller Orch, Ringling Bros., and Barnum & Bailey Circus, The Ink Spots, The Four Tops, The O'Jays, The Temptations, the OKC Phil and the Long Bay Symphony. He has been director of bands at Keys, Tenkiller, and Porter public schools.
